About us

Kallio Rolling Rainbow is a roller derby league that was established in 2010 in Helsinki, Finland. Kallio Rolling Rainbow welcomes anyone regardless of age, gender or body type. Our fundamental value is to accept people exactly as they are. Ultimately, our goal is to celebrate the existence of every color of the rainbow.

Roller derby often attracts enthusiasts to sports who may not be reached by other sports. The league improves the physical fitness of its members and those interested in the sport while inspiring new people to engage in sports and community activities. It is also important for our league to promote interpersonal equality regardless of nationality, skin color, gender, or sexual orientation.

🥇 Our A-team, All Colours, is current Finnish Champions while our B-team, Kinapori Fistfunkers, hold the I-Division championship. 🥇

Teams

Kallio Rolling Rainbow has three teams. The A-team, All Colours, primarily competes in the Finnish national series (SM-series), but international games and tournaments are also possible. All Colours currently holds the title of Finnish Champion 2024.

The B-team, Kinapori Fistfunkers, primarily competes in Division 1 of the Finnish national series and currently holds the title of Finnish D1 Champion 2024. The team also competes in tournaments and internationally.

The recreational team, Piritorin Ässät, offers playing opportunities for newer skaters. Ässät welcomes players to join as soon as they meet the minimum skating skills requirements (Sign up for Ässät!)

The teams are managed by coaching staff and selected team captains. Players are chosen for the teams through a charter application held approximately quarterly. During the charter, players are selected for the representative teams. The recreational team serves as the starting team for most new players, where they participate in their first scrimmages and games.

WHO CAN JOIN OUR TEAMS?

For our competing charter teams we follow the umbrella organization WFTDA (Women’s Flat Track Derby Association) gender policy rules. Here at KRR we interpret WFTDAs “gender expansive” as including all transgender, intersex, and non-binary players. Anyone who feels like they can play under this gender policy is allowed to compete with KRRs competing charter teams.
